Deadlock

When the operation of critical and necessary public functions such as mass transit are imperiled by deadlock in Springfield, deadlock has turned to disgrace.

No one legislator can change this. There isn’t a “Hey, I’m-in-town-now” solution to what ails the leadership. As a freshman Senator, my toolkit will be light but I will carry with me the issues and concern that people have expressed about the district and the state. Theirs will be the most meaningful voices for me. Relating their experiences and concerns, approaching issues from a more personal and local perspective may work to scale down and soften some of the leaders’ defenses.

I will work to forge alliances with legislators from both sides of the aisle, and I will also seek to involve other state officers and appointed officials to build a critical mass committed to change.
